After 30 hours of paperwork, kindly filled out by Becca, Ariel, and Momoko. And months of waiting, we now have non-profit status through the eyes of the IRS. Donations can now be officially tax-deductable (and retroactive since the fall, when we filed) And grants may be written by the dozens. Yey for Bike Farm!!!

Bike Farm will be presenting at the Towards Car-Free Cities, taking place in Portland June 16-20. This is an international conference on pedestrian and cycle oriented transportation. This year’s focus will be on proximity. Much of the panels and presentations will be taking place at Portland State University. Tuesday, June 17th is free and open to the public. There is a registration fee for the rest of the conference. On June 20th, 6 miles of North Portland will be closed to vehicular traffic, ciclova style, for Sunday Parkways. This will allow people of all ages to ride our neighborhood streets, car-free!!!

Updates to come of when and where Bike Farm will be presenting.

Stay tuned to http://www.carfreeportland.org for updates on the conference

Bike Farm Update March 2008!

Filed under: Uncategorized — bikefarm @ 6:23 pm

Over the past few weeks, folks have been stopping by the shop regularly to work on thier bikes and donate parts.

Recently, Bike Farm had a fundraising event blitz. An event at The Bye and Bye, quickly followed by a Valentine’s Formal, and two days later a show at Plan B. We raised enough funds to begin working on obtaining a much needed second set of tools along with some specialty tools. Spring is approaching and the shop hopes to increase capacity with these new tools as well as some new workstations outside.
